Sandbox is one of the playable gamemodes in Voices of the Void. It primarily serves as a 'creative mode' for players to test, experiment, or otherwise freely play around with most game content. By default, it is locked, but becomes available after the player survives 30 days in Story Mode.[note 1]
Description
The main differences and similarities are:
- The Spawn menu (Default Q) - the player can spawn most of the items from Story mode along with a number sandbox-only or otherwise unused.
- Undo (Defalut Z) - Player can remove last spawned items by pressing Undo button. Player can't undo items in their hands or inside any container
- Cheat menu (Default insert) - contains a variety of cheats, the spawner of all signals, teleport to special places, events.
- Noclip (Default V) - Lets the player fly and clip through most props, but can't go through walls and terrain. Water won't affect the player while active (Drowning and Extinguishing)
- Some events are not available in the sandbox, in such cases, the error sound from the Source games is played "Oh, fiddlesticks! What now?"
- Story events, notably, will not appear
- Some features are only available to subscribers on Patreon or Busty
- The player can also choose from a selection of sandbox-oriented maps
- Unless the player chooses otherwise, sandbox still uses the main map.
- Player sleep, hunger, & flashlight still decrease as normal.[note 2]
- Player can get achievements

Maps
The player can play not only on the standard map with ASO base, but also on special maps for the sandbox mode.
Sandbox maps:
- Don't have computers, consoles and satellites
- Don't have invisible walls. Instead, the player is teleported if he goes(flies) further from the start.
- Don't have ATV at the start, forcing the game to spawn it high above the ground
- Don't have any object
- Some cheats don't work
Main
It's the same as in the story or any other mode. Player can use computer and other things as usual, but some events are not available
List of not working events:
- Green cabinet
- Player can find tile and insert them in the green cabinet, but it refuse to open after it
- ...
Blank
Very simple map. In form of square cuboid, with sides 250x250x100. Nothing but the floor, ceiling and 4 walls with the textures of a similar chessboard. Time is static
Playground
Simple map with water and static door from the bunker. In form of square cuboid, with side 100x100x50, but in front of the walls there are recesses with water 5 meters deep. Holes with light in the walls similar to those from the tutorial level illuminate the map. Time is static.
Bunker Door leads just into a small black space.
Flatgrass
It reminds the first version of the gm_flatgrass map from Garry's mod, but with a slightly different platform, existing of tall grass, flowers and fence. Side of the walls are 1000x1000
Flatwater
Same as Flatgrass, but water replaces grass and platform is different. There is no bottom in the water.
Flatsky
Same as Flatgrass, but there is no grass and platform is different, nothing but same platform and fence.
Flatshit
Same as Flatgrass, but the texture of the grass is replaced by the texture of dirt, and the tall grass with flowers is replaced by other plant.
Pit
Same as Playground, but there is big deep pit in center of the map with zero light.
Flatvoid
There is nothing but a floor made of small tiles like in the Playground map. Time is static. No light source.
A small map with a unique landscape. Roads lead to rocks. The borders of the map exist. There is a wooden shack with a corpse inside, and an old model of a Kel stands behind the shack.
