A drive is an item used to store and transfer Signals for processing and shipment. The signal process level is shown in a range of level 0 to level 3.
By hovering over the drive, the player can see a more in-depth list of details about the content. These details are the name, id, level and size of the signal stored inside.

Appearance

Drives are thin, tall, white rectangles with four lighting slots and a gray outline. Each drive has a black stripe down the middle of their sides, and a dark brown bottom panel. Various lights will show up on the drive depending on the status of the signal inside.

Signal Status

Each drive has colored lights which indicate the signal's status. These colors range from red to green.

  • Red lights indicate an empty drive with nothing stored on it.
  • Yellow lights indicate a "copied" signal, which is created by pressing the "make copy" button on the "database" screen of the main computer and exporting the signal that is sent to the storage panel.
  • Green lights indicate an drive with a non-copied signal stored on them.

Signal Level

As a signal is processed, three blue lights will appear on a drive to indicate the state of the stored signal.

  • No blue lights indicate a level 0 signal.
  • One blue light indicates a level 1 signal.
  • Two blue lights indicate a level 2 signal.
  • Three blue lights indicate a level 3 signal.

It is important to note that only drives with green or yellow lights can have the blue level lighting appear. Red lights indicate no stored signal and therefore it is impossible to upgrade a red-lit drive.

Usage

Drives can also hold processed signals. Signals can range from level 0 to level 3. As a signal is upgraded, the clarity and sell price of the signal will increase

Tips

  • Drives are the most common and cheapest item that can be used to craft Electronic Scrap
  • Buying a Drive Rack will keep your drives organized and safe from damage.
  • Drives shouldn't be kept on one's person, as they are only used for signals.

Trivia

  • The tutorial's computer allows the processing of drives indefinitely past level 3.
    • These drives have no light, cannot be saved/played, and have no outlines in the signal monitor.
